Alice i Coutureland

“I think my favorite Alice character is the March Hare. You can see I’ve made his watch rather prominent. This was a different design process for me, because I’m not usually so applicative—typically, I’m thinking about line, silhouette. But this time, I figured, why not just pile as much as I can on top?” —Nicholas Kirkwood

Fra Alice in Wonderland, med Mia Wasikowska i hovedrollen.

“My favorite character is the Duchess, who at first seems nearly as unpleasant as the Queen of Hearts. But she’s the antagonist of the queen, and at the end was only respectful and friendly, despite her tremendous ugliness. When I was designing this piece, I was seeing Alice running, escaping through the forest destroying her shiny dress.” —Haider Ackermann

“Alice’s silhouette is a blue upside-down dress with cage sleeve, as if she walked through the mirror and her dress completely reversed. A long ball gown has been reworked, upside-down, into a minidress. The bustier in taffetas becomes a pleated miniskirt. The petticoat in plonge becomes an asymmetrical draped top. The skirt in ‘plumetis’ tulle becomes a veil. A cage sleeve of whale-boned velvet ribbon is embroidered with pearls, crystals, and recycled jewels.” —Maison Martin Margiela.

Anne Hathaway fra "Djevelen i Prada" spiller The White Queen i filmen Alice i Eventyrland.

“I went to John Tenniel’s original illustration of Alice for inspiration. She’s seated at a table having tea, and her dress looks much more asymmetrical and theatrical than that boring Walt Disney version. It was also an auto-reference to my collections, as Lewis Carroll’s work has been one of the main inspirations of my label since its creation. Alice Liddell, the real little girl with long dark hair who inspired Carroll, is one of the very few icons that I have. The pictures of her are a constant inspiration for me.” —Charles Anastase

Ann Demeulemeesters nydelige kjole i Printemps vindusutstilling.
“I’ve always been intrigued by cutout silhouettes. They are so intriguing, so poetic—the shadow of a soul. They tell everything about a character and they are open to be filled with one’s own imagination.” —Ann Demeulemeester

Porselenskjole

Some Mediterranean countries, such as Greece, have the millennial tradition of breaking the crockery to get rid of material goods in order to receive the New Year. The Chinese designer Li Xiaofeng was inspired by this tradition and found a way of recycling glass and porcelain remains in her new line of artistic clothing.

Litt vanskelig å sitte ned kanskje..

Tasty jewellery

Priser fra $50 to $1,295.

True Blood jewelry comes in sterling, stainless chains, leather and are accented with blood-red rubies. Prices for the haute vampire fashion jewelry: $50 to $1,295.

The hot HBO series True Blood have made Vampires and their fashions quite the rage.
HBO is offering a line of fashion necklaces, double rings, pendants, and cuffs, plus more to capture the craze while it lasts.

Matthew Williamson har designet tepper for The Rug Company.

Matthew Williamson designer fantastiske ting.

From Catwalk to Comedy: Burberry

AW09 Burberry Prorsum womens shearling coat looking great at the runway.

And even better worn by Keira Knightley, here leaving the Comedy Theatre in London where she is performing her new play The Misanthrope, December 2009.
It's always interesting to se how you can dress a garment up or down, or different from the runway look. Even with a jacket.

Jennifer in Valentino

Were used to see our favourite girl-next-door in classy & trendy outfits, but Jennifer Aniston proves again and again that she can do sexy better than most when she wants to. Valentino is one of her favourite choices on the red carpet.

The House of Valentino is pleased to announce Jennifer Aniston wearing Valentino dress from Haute Couture Fall Winter 2009/10 collection, on the red carpet for the 'Love Happens' premiere at Mann's Village Theater in Los Angeles, on September 15th, 2009

Patti Smith

Patti Smith and Steven Sebring Present Objects of Life

There are a lot of reasons to do an art show with rock legend Patti Smith. But photographer and filmmaker Steven Sebring offered the simplest justification of all: "She's got some cool stuff." A lot of said stuff—and Sebring's photos of it—were on view at last night's opening of Objects of Life, an exhibition at Chelsea's Robert Miller Gallery. On display were Smith's Polaroid camera, her Corona typewriter, and her largest canvas, Strange Messenger, which depicts what looks like an archangel emerging out of gobs of paint. There was also a photo of a Gibson guitar that was given to her by one-time beau Sam Shepard. Just as noteworthy, perhaps, was the presence of the playwright himself. He spent most of the evening shrugging off strangers. For Smith, the show represents a rare act of disclosure. "I have many things. Some things I wouldn't share with anyone, and some things I thought it would be nice for people to see," she explained. The latter group includes "relics" that once belonged to friends. "Robert Mapplethorpe's slippers have a sense of holiness," said Smith, before adding, "I don't feel that my chair is holy, but I do love it." Acolytes will be pleased to know that the installation of the singer's furniture isn't necessarily off-limits. "They aren't invited to sit in it," Smith warned. "But if you really feel faint and you have to sit in my chair, it's all right."
